What does a Doula do?

I will meet with the expectant mother/couple sometime in the third trimester to discuss desires, fears, and expectations for the upcoming birth.

I will remain with the mother throughout the entire labor and birth of her baby, providing continuous care that is often not available with nurse shift changes and rotating doctors.
A Doula is "a woman experienced in childbirth who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother (and her partner) before, during and just after childbirth."
Klaus, Kennel, & Klaus ~ Mothering the Mother
